Today, while listening to KLOVE radio I heard a mom talk about her "wow God" moment, one that had not yet happened, and it made my heart ache, just a bit. This mother was saying that she had faith that the embryo her daughter was having implanted today would be a successful pregnancy, stating that she had faith that her daughter would know the joy of having her own baby. The woman also stated that this was the last of the possible embryos, it was her daughter's last chance, aching heart here Now, I am sure that God can do this, if He wills it, but what if He doesn't? To me this is not a "wow God", but a "show her, God", show her(this daughter, and hopeful mother) that this is not her last chance and the joy of having a child is very real and very alive, just maybe not where she is looking.
Truly, being a mother is a God given gift, but even Mary had no part in her "own" child, she was given the gift of life, and lovingly raised another's child, adoption is a gift, and a command in the Bible, and we will soon celebrate the greatest gift of adoption ever known.
Love and faith are all that are truly needed to be a mom, sometimes you have to let go of one dream, in order to reach out and grasp the possibility of another. Sometimes this new dream is not the one you thought to have, but is the one God gives you, the gift that He grows in your heart, and with faith it can blossom into a beautiful reality.
My prayer for this mother, her daughter, and possible children for this family is this: God, please show her that this is not her last chance, that there are millions of sweet faced chances out there, just waiting, and sometimes we are their last chance, take that chance, please. God, please show her that love for a child knows no genetics, it knows no racial divides, it does not understand ethnicity or boundaries of countries. Love knows no time or place, it knows no heritage, it only knows that the bond of a mother to her child is real, strong, immutable, everlasting, timeless. Love is a God given gift, and it should be seized fervently, cradled tenderly, and cherished forever, no matter the time, place or face of that love, a mother is made for the love of her child, please God, show her that there is a child for her to love, if only she is willing to look, please God, show her. Amen
