Curls, glorious curls!!!

So, Amelia and curls, there is a lot there for a topic(pun intended:-).  Mia came home with fine, medium thickness curls, that were inches long, barely.  Now, we have nearly a foot of super thick, curly mass, that we have been struggling to tame, and at long last have found a solution, Noodle Head, by Beyond the Zone is our go to goo, and Stiff Head stick,by Beyond the Zone, a great pomade alternative!!!  Amelia's curls are like an octopus' tentacles, they wrap themselves around your hands and don't let go, they just cling and bind you up, not great for braiding, or even for leaving free and loose, which is where the new goo's come in.
Tara, from www.thegorgeousingredient.com, recommended the Noodle Head, and we have fallen in love, it has a nice smell, not too flowery, not too herbal, but just right.  The consistency is good, slick, but not tacky(that just attracts fuzzies, not good to spend your day looking like a walking dust bunny!), and makes really defined the curls, without making them crunchy or letting them frizz by the end of the day.  Best part, just spraying her hair the next morning to brush it out made the Noodle Head reactivate, so only a bit more touch up was required, wahoo!!!  Mia loved this, she loves her hair free, but it tangles and frizzes, and this she does not like, so she is a happy, free and curly little girly!!
For braiding the Stiff Head stick is a dream, especially since Mia's hair is what is considered "mixed", meaning it lacks the coarser texture, but has all of the thickness of African hair, making it harder to braid.  The coarser texture hair is much easier to braid, and stays longer in the braids, but Mia's hair needs to be re braided every 10 days or so since it just slips out of the braids or fuzzes up out of twists.  We have found that the Stiff Head stick works wonders for this though, it adds an absorbent tackiness to the hair, so when I go to pick up hair to cornrow, it does not slip through my fingers and tangle again, it smooths right into place, making her hair part neatly and stay tighter in the chosen style.  We have tried many hair waxes, but find this one to be the nicest smelling(again not too strong, kind of fruity) and it does not dry her hair or leave it tacky, but absorbs nicely, only bad part is if we want to have free hair after heavily braided styles we have to fully wash and comb out the hair, the stick lingers for a while, nice for alternate braiding styles, not nice for free curls being weighed down a bit:-).
So this is our current hair fave, thanks again to Tara for the help, and Sally's for the good price points on the products, no breaking the bank for pretty hair for my baby girl, and thanks mostly to Amelia for her patience with mommy in her hair style ventures, some good, some not so good, she is so sweet, and loves all of my creations!!!!!
