well this past weekend marked a big family party time, i had my 30th bday party and my mom and step dad had their wedding reception. It was a great weekend and all had a great time, many of my aunts, uncles, cousins and their kids came. It was fun to see them and catch up, we always have a good time chatting and laughing. many long time friends also came, so good food and fun made for a nice weekend, and my darling and dearly missed sister came up from FLA. I love seeing my sister, she is soooo much fun to hang out with, and we had a good time hanging out 'til midnight chatting, giggling, and figuring out life. We have almost got life sorted out completely, and soon will have all major issues solved in a few more late night sessions :)
One of the best parts of the weekend was talking to my cousin Beth, she and her husband adopted both of their kiddos from Korea and they were the ones who pointed us toward CHSFS, but we love to talk about adoption, and the effect it has on your lives and your kids lives, and how you are perceived as a family and a mom. It is nice soemtimes to talk to the folks who get it, and who have been in that trench a bit, since parenting is universal to a certain degree, but adoptive, intercultural parenting is different, and she had a rough attachment time with her oldest child and some great insight and advice to go with it, and an adorable sweet and funny little boy whom we adore and love to play with.
also great about the weekend was that we got our USCIS approval on Saturday in the mail, this means that when we receive a referral we can be ready to accept it and travel. WOOHOO!
Jon also pointed out that for us the great thing about having a party is that we clean completely, and our house is never so tidy. And for this party we also had to finish the "party shed" and Julianna's bedroom, pics of this to follow in the next post. So needless to say we had a busy week last week, and a fun weekend, Jon and i have learned the ability to let go of the little dust bunnies, dog hairs, and other untidiness that might lurk in the house and closets, and we really just have fun and enjoy our parties! Now we get to enjoy our labors a bit longer since we are trying to not live in our house too much and mess it up(just kidding!)
HAve to go the dogs need a bathroom break, write again soon, and will post pics of the new "fairy wonderland" bedroom and hope to have plans for the nursery figured out soon too!
always, Jamie
