I have been a very bad homeschool mommy!!
I love homeschool because it is so easy to be flexible and do fun things and go fun places, but I dislike how easy it is to not do our school work, and just do fun things and drift along on our days. I have a great plan and vision of where we are headed and what we should hit along the way, but we have been very naughty and have been playing hooky lately!!
This week has been the worst so far, We went to the gym for family swim and then went and got groceries and ran errands on Monday, Tuesday we went to the Big E, a great time, but not really school related, just a fun field trip!! Although we did check out the animals and the dairy barn where they were milking cows, which was interesting for Julianna, and Jon(I have see it many times before, but still enjoy it!). Wednesday we had to go to the travel clinic for a shot and then went for a walk on the bike path, then home to do a science experiment. Wednesday is science day so this was a good step in the right direction, so Julianna learned about yeast, and how it grows, and makes bread grow. We made Ethiopian honey bread, it was a try out for our fundraiser dinner, and we did a good job, it tasted great.
So today, thursday , we are going to the gym to swim again, and then home to get some reading and writing work in. So I am a bad homeschool mommy for not doing more book work, but we have had a full and fun week, and Julianna has learned many new things, and been well educated it many areas, so all in all, not too bad for an eclectic learning environment that we are trying to create I guess!
Blessings Jamie
PS to all who may have seen us on the bike path and been frightened, we are sorry, we were practicing our make believe marching band, and were trying to decide if daddy was a better bass drum player or a good trumpeter.
Imagine if you will, me marching along in a high step calling out a marching beat(sousa march like!), Julianna alternating between playing her imaginary trombone and flute, and Jon doing the drum-bum wiggle(the walk the bass drummers do to carry those huge drums and walk along in time to the beat)!! Jon did the swing and swagger so well while playing an imaginary drum that Julianna and I were in tears while marching, it was hysterical!! But to all who may have seen and heard us(we were not proud, we were LOUD!!), we hoped you enjoyed the show, and no we are not crazy, just silly and having fun, and LOUD!! Keep an eye out for our little marching band we may come to a neighborhood near you soon!!Love J
